Biography (source:: Crank's members originally broke their ground through well known Sydney acts such as Toe To Toe, S.U.X. And Casualty, and are influenced by melodic bands like NOFX, Snuff and The Hard Ons, and combining their melody with the edge of more hardcore acts including Poison Idea, Black Flag and Bad Brains. Crank originally began performing in September 1994 as a four piece. After stripping back to a three piece soon after, their tighter feel, gutsy sound and distinctive vocal harmonies (which is their trademark), soon made them a well established Sydney hardcore band. The band's first recording was in October 1995.

Eight songs were put down. Four of the tracks laid down were released on a limited edition 7' vinyl EP on Sydney's No Deal Records.

This was released in August 1996 and titled 'Cranked'. The remaining four tracks recorded were released on the now sold out demo tape titled, 'I'm To Blame'. Following the release of the demo 'I'm To Blame', Crank completed a full length 14 track CD titled 'Picking Up The Pieces' on independent label OneFoot Records. This was released worldwide in November 1996, and is distributed nationally by MDS. Additional recorded tracks have also been produced for various compilation CD's, a skate video and vinyl records released both in Australia and overseas. Apart from the recording and gigging in Sydney, the boys have also built up a following in Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra after constant touring in support of those recordings.

Some of the bands that have played with Crank include Downtime, Frenzal Rhomb, Bodyjar, MYC/OIP, The Hard Ons, Mark Of Cain, Blister, Regurgitator, The Porkers, Blowhard, Midget, Mindsnare, Rocks and Ricaine from Australia. All You Can Eat, Schleprock, Unwritten Law, Goldfinger, Horace Pinker, Ignite, Skankin' Pickle, Face To Face, Lagwagon, Avail and Down By Law from the USA. No Fun At All, Millencolin and the Satanic Surfers from Sweden plus Yawp! (Holland), Sommerset (NZ), Propagandhi (Canada) and Citizen Fish, Sex Pistols and Skunk Anansie from the UK. In support of 'Picking Up The Pieces', Crank completed a European tour during May and June 1997.

This tour encompassed 30 shows in eight countries and was very well received. 7 days to die. During 1998 Alan and Lyle moved over to India with Lyle returning in early 2000.

Alan is still overseas so Crank have recruited a new bassist in Rob Kay (from Tuskin Raiders) and after 2 years in hibernation resumed regular gigging with their first gig supporting Diesel Boy. 'Occam's Razor' was released (after 2 years in the making) on 27th March with extensive touring which took Crank to Queensland in April, NSW in April/May and their first WA tour in mid May. They did more tour including Melbourne in October, played some shows with Guttermouth and then back over to Perth in January 2002. Late January they played shows NOFX then played the NSW leg of Warped Tour and back in Perth in September for some more shows. They started off 2003 with a slot on the Homebake festival which went very well and around this time they welcomed back original bassist Alan, with Rob moving to second guitar giving the band a fully sound that is evident on their new ep, 'Sourpuss' which was released in March to coincide with a heap of touring across the country during March and April. Biography: Might as well was a band from Ontario that started in 1996 under the name Auxilliary One. At this moment the band consisted of Mike and Mark + other members no longer in the band. Shortly after they changed their name to, consisting of Mike, Mark, Will and Matt. Under Side Step they released a demo CD in 2000. I have infos of a split CD too, but I'm not sure it was released. The band changed their name again this time for Might As Well, and they recorded a 4-track demo.
